Looking Back: Unrequited Love

I fell in love my sophomore year in college with a wonderful girl. She dropped me and it broke my heart. I was 35 years old when I married my wife and 38 when our daughter was born. I am now 80 years old and still have thoughts of her.

Depression brought on by heartbreak

By doing a search online, I found her obituary and she died in 2013. She married after finishing college in 1967 and had 2 sons. I love my wife and daughter but will never have the same feelings I had for that first love. This is something you can not talk about to anyone and have to keep those feelings bottled up to yourself. I often think of how our lives would have been if it had worked out and we had gotten married.

After all these years, I think of her often and it makes me sad and depressed. Don't believe there is anything that will ever change those feelings.
